Over time

This is the first day of records for this measure, so there is no line to draw yet. We count it every day from 21 October 2026, and the chart appears here once there are two days. Earlier dates can't be filled in, because we can't know how roles stated pay before we started counting.

How we count

  • Roles counted: the open AI training roles on the platforms' own job boards at the latest hourly update. Paid research studies and talent pools are left out.
  • Each role once: a role is in exactly one group. States an hourly rate: the posting gives an hourly amount or range. Only an "up to" or per-task rate: it gives a ceiling ("up to $50 an hour"), or pay per task or per audio hour. States no pay: no figure at all.
  • Not the same as the pay figures: pay data counts each distinct posting once, so roles repeated per country or language count once there and every time here. The two pages will therefore show different totals.
  • Limits: we see what platforms publish. A platform may tell you the rate after you apply, or set it per project. That is not the same as paying badly.

Pay transparency in AI training jobs: common questions

How many AI training jobs state their pay?

53% of the 5,237 open roles state an hourly rate, and 69% state some pay figure, counting roles that give only an "up to" ceiling or a per-task rate. 31% state no pay at all. Figures are as of 22 October 2026.

What counts as stating pay?

A role counts as stating an hourly rate when its posting gives an hourly amount or range. "Up to" ceilings and per-task or per-audio-hour rates are counted separately, because they don't tell you what a typical hour pays. Roles with no figure at all are counted as stating no pay.

Which platforms are the most open about pay?

Among the 36 platforms with at least 20 open roles, the share of roles that state an hourly rate runs from 100% at 10x Team to 0% at Aptura.

Does a role with no stated pay pay nothing?

No. It means the posting doesn't say. Some platforms set pay per project or tell you once you are accepted. Where a platform publishes a typical range elsewhere, its own page on this site shows it.

Where does the data come from?

From the open roles on the platforms' own public job boards, re-checked every hour. No survey or estimate is involved. Paid research studies are left out.
